Calling young actors, writers, and tech crew (ages 12-20) to join the fall 2020 course in complete creation and production for our new YouTube channel...
The project's mission is: -to equip students with the needed knowledge for sketch comedy success -to facilitate the freedom to experiment and express -to provide the space to create as a team -to produce a high quality family-friendly youtube channel (think "Studio C" by BYUTV, only by teens, for teens).
We are about positive, clean humor -- this is absolutely "G-rated" and focused on building each other up, both off stage and on.
We are forming a full team of teens (ages 12-20) to train as writers, actors, and tech crew. So whatever your interests, you will find a place here
Through workshops and coached self-direction, students will learn:
-Acting (stage presence, becoming your character, expression, movement) -Public Speaking & Vocal Skills (clarity, projection, range expansion, AND how to make YOUR voice sound ANY way you can imagine) -Comedy (What makes stuff funny? How do you cultivate the comedian inside you without forcing it?) -Improv (how to think on the fly, create in character, and be supportive of the whole story and cast team) -Tech (stage setup, lighting, cameras & filming, video editing, sound FX) -Creative Writing (story development, character balance, short plot forms) -Marketing (how to spread the word, reach and attract the right audience for our channel, and deliver a great message)
Over time, our goal is to create a community that members will not need to age out of, but rather become mentors to new seasons of new actor-creators.
As we launch, our first semester will consist of:
Month 1 - workshops in the skills listed above Month 2 - more workshops PLUS begin character and story development for our channel Month 3 - character and story refining PLUS testing episodes and tech setup Month 4 - begin filming episodes
Meetings are 7:15 - 8:15pm Mondays, starting August 24. Members will be given homework each week and have daily access to a private online platform for practice accountability and bouncing ideas around. Members will self-direct the YouTube channel with experienced coaching every step of the way. Tuition is $97 per month (full fall semester course is 4 months [16 weeks]). If you are not already a current True Song student, there is also the one-time registration fee of $35.
Bringing a whole palette of skills and experience to the table, Danika will be your producer. In the past she has written and directed community musicals for the stage, acted, and edited all kinds of videos. She's passionate about working with teens and bringing the very best out of each member of our team.
In the words of a teenage drama student: "Danika is very kind and understanding; she is also very creative and has constant ideas. She really cares about her job and about us. I personally have so much more confidence because of her."
In the words of a parent: "I have really enjoyed having Danika work with my kids on music and drama. As an advocate of self directed learning, I have appreciated her way of gently encouraging the kids in a positive way which has really kept them interested in continuing their practice. Danika is excellent at facilitating the kids' creativity and inspiration."
